CarmoraBy Glenn Davis   April 15, 2013

Desleigh Forster is confident Carmora is a genuine Queensland Derby hope but has warned the three-year-old has room for improvement when he returns from a break at Doomben on Wednesday.
Carmora will be out to maintain his unbeaten record in the Listed Queensland Day Handicap (1350m) and will have regular rider Michael Cahill aboard as he chases his fourth consecutive win. Carmora has not started since his all the way win over 1600m at Doomben on March 9.
"His last win was very good and he did it at both ends," Forster said.
"He's quite adaptable and is a big horse just starting to put it all together.
"I'm sure he'll run well but whatever he does he'll improve a lot for his next start."
Forster boasts one of the best strike rates of any trainer in the country with a  phenomenal 37.3 per cent win ratio.
Forster sent Carmora for a break following his latest victory and has pencilled in the traditional route to the G1 Queensland Derby (1600m) at Eagle Farm in June.
"He had a freshen-up after his last run with the Queensland Derby in mind," she said.
"He hasn't trialled or had a jump out as he only had a week in the paddock and a week on the water walker.
"I'm really happy with the way he's going and his work has been very good."
Forster has pencilled in at least two more starts for Carmora before the Queensland Derby in  the G3 Gunsynd Classic (1600m) at Eagle Farm on May 27 and G3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) at Eagle Farm on May 11.
Forster is confident the son of Stromberg Carlson will eventually develop into a useful stayer.
"He's quite adaptable and is a big horse just starting to put it all together," she said.
Forster is happy with her stable's form although she admitted the wins had fallen away slightly.
"I'm happy with the way the stable is going and we were a little unlucky with a couple of two-year-olds last week," she said.
