Trainer Desleigh Forster forecast Starlin, winner of the Lyndhurst Stud Handicap (1650m) could be destined for longer races following his one length win over Gold Coast four-year-old Bilt Leica.
Starlin, who also was ridden by Browne, began his racing career with Gold Coast trainer Maryann Thexton.
However, he joined Forster after having just two starts under Thexton and was then transferred to Peter Moody in Melbourne after finishing third at Caloundra in May, 2010.
"I thought he was good enough to send down to Peter Moody and he won his maiden down there," Forster said.
"Peter didn't think he would measure up so he sent him back to me after he had three starts.
"I've always had an opinion of him ever since he ran third to Adebisi as a two-year-old and I think he'll make a stayer later on.
"This win was only the second time he's been over a mile."
